Lila Dance – The Deluge
First there was a loud crack in the city and a shudder out to sea. As the shoreline retreated and dusty sirens started to wail, those in the city knew they must head for higher ground before the sea crashed back, bigger, higher, a wall of water.
Lila Dance Company and a cast of over 60 community performers including Bath Spa University dance students, BaNES Youth Dance Company and a collective of adults took over The Edge building (the safe house). Whether the building would withstand the wave, they didn’t know – no one did. With only the clothes on their backs, they found themselves asking what has been lost, and what was there left to lose?
An intimate and immersive dance theatre experience performed over two evenings.
“Such lovely people and working with them was a pleasure. This week helped me to take my mind off my troubles. I loved the piece and wish I could perform it more! It’s been really inspiring and I hope to cross paths with the company again” – Community cast member
