Made in Foxhill
Creativity Works, Kilter and Bath Dance have been awarded the contract to deliver arts development activities in the Foxhill area of Bath for a year, starting in February 2018. They will work as a consortium.
Oliver Jones, Creativity Works:
“We are delighted to be working in Foxhill. It is a vibrant, animated and established community that is experiencing much change at the moment. As a socially engaged arts organisation, our method is to empower the community to tell their own stories, to take their own creative journeys and, hopefully, make the community feel that the arts can play a significant role in their lives, in their wellbeing and in the well-being of their entire community. The potential of the collaboration between ourselves, our artistic partners, and the community itself is thrilling and we cannot wait to see what’s created.”
Fleur Hoefkens-Lee, Bath Dance:
“Bath Dance are hoping to develop an exciting dance scene in Foxhill with a programme that creates more opportunities for people to engage in dance. This will include offering a wide range of dance and movement styles to suit a variety of participants and groups, a dancer in residency scheme and bringing highly skilled artists such as Urban Playground into the area. Our vision is of a sustainable, vibrant dance offer, for which Foxhill becomes renowned and where spaces are animated, and people come together through the proven power of dance.”
Oliver Langdon, Kilter:
“Foxhill is such an exciting place for Kilter to explore and celebrate. Over the last few years working in the area we’ve uncovered a fascinating history – stories of current residents only too happy to recall the MOD coming and going since the 1940s. The future looks to be packed with stories too. What will happen in the next few years as Mulberry Park is completed and the landscape and community change all over again!?”
Creativity Works are a national portfolio organisation, the only one in Bath and North East Somerset. They specialise in socially engaged arts, with a focus on mental health and wellbeing. They have extensive experience of working with a variety of different communities within B&NES and further afield.
Kilter creates theatrical events out of interesting, beautiful and unique people and places. They devise site-specific plays, tour curious installations and deliver bespoke workshops alongside their regular programme of events in and around Bath.
Bath Dance supports the development of dance in B&NES and beyond. B&NES has a rich ecology of dance activity and it is their role to deliver a range of workshops, performances and initiatives in the area, ensuring dance continues to grow and thrive.
